Rookie Vagabonders

I can’t believe it’s already 2009: this is the year I graduate from college (yes, parents…the time has finally come); it has been close to a decade since the dreaded and ultimately uneventful Y2K bug; and gasp! this is the last year for novelty party glasses…time certainly flies when you’re having fun. As I was reflecting back on 2008, as I do every New Years, I realized that one of my most favorite things I did this past year was writing this blog. I can’t believe my last post was in April! It seems like just yesterday that this bad boy consumed most of my free time (in lieu of my other work of course) and took on a sweet life of its own.

So in an effort to make 2009 as fantastically eventful and fun-filled as 2008, I find it necessary to begin writing my beloved blog again, to further explore the multitude of affordable travel possibilities and to open my eyes and hopefully yours to the beautiful, scintillating world that is out there. Do you hear that noise? Yeah, it’s THE WORLD buzzing with activity and vibrant life, one giant adventure just waiting to happen. Ring, ring…oh hey, the phone is for you…it’s THE WOLRD CALLING. 2009 is our year vagabonders. It’s time for us to advance from rookie to intermediate, to begin expanding beyond our borders and to start exploring because that it what we do best.

To start this year off right, I have decided to create a top ten list of my favorite travel songs, my go-to jams that force me to dance like there is no tomorrow (and I cannot dance, my friends, it is quite a sight to see). As always, I would love, love, love to know what songs you rock out to from the waist up in your car, or get jiggy with mid flight, to the chagrin of your annoyed neighbor. So here we go (these are in no particular order, they’re all pretty rufus):

This is just a mere sampling of the songs and artists that I rock out to in a diverse array of places, including my most favorite: the shower. In addition to aspiring to be a 21^st century vagabond, I also yearn to be Penny Lane from Cameron Crowe’s Almost Famous, and so I have been building up my musical library for years now (thanks in part to the musical tastes of my reformed hippy parents).
